Rainforest Foundation Norway is the leading rainforest NGO in Europe and one of the largest in the world. We are currently working to increase our influence over European and international decision makers to secure stronger implementation of rainforest protection policies and are looking for a strategic and politically savvy adviser to take this work to the next level. In this role, you will shape our engagement with international and European decision makers, to maximise our impact on stopping deforestation and degradation of tropical rainforests.
Based in our policy team, you will work in an experienced and dedicated team of eight people that develop and execute RFNs international policy work and collaborate with colleagues and partner organisations working to protect the rainforest across the Amazon, Congo Basin and Southeast Asia.
Key responsibilities:
· Identify political opportunities for improved rainforest policies in international processes such as the UNFCCC.
· Contribute to further developing RFNs positioning and influence towards European governments, in particular Germany, in collaboration with national NGOs, local consultants and other allies.
· Represent RFN in dialogue with relevant stakeholders for policy purposes and in media or other external channels.
· Co-lead RFNs cross-departmental working group on policy, with representatives from RFNs country teams.
· Lead RFNs delegations to international policy arenas such as the UNFCCC COPs.
· Support the communication team in developing impactful policy messages and strategic visibility.
Desired skills and qualifications:
· Relevant higher education with a master degree. All formal education can be compensated by relevant experience.
· 5+ years of working experience, preferably with international policy and advocacy work related to environment and/or development.
· Demonstrated ability in strategic thinking and advocacy skills.
· Demonstrated ability to develop and lead advocacy strategies.
· Demonstrated ability to convince and gain acceptance from relevant targets groups.
· Demonstrated competence in dialogue in diverse and multicultural environments.
· Ability to work in a structured and organised manner.
· Full fluency in English required, Norwegian, German and/or RFN rainforest country languages (Spanish, Portuguese, French or Bahasa Indonesian) are an asset.

The position is a full time, permanent position at the head office in Oslo. Working from elsewhere in Europe can in certain cases be considered.
