Are you passionate about social and environmental issues and protecting the world's rainforests? Do you want to contribute to the fight against deforestation?
Rainforest Foundation Norway (RFN) is one of Norway's leading environmental organizations, dedicated to safeguarding the planet's tropical rainforests while upholding the rights of Indigenous peoples and forest communities.
In the External Relations Department, we play a critical role in enabling our work globally and in rainforest countries by increasing funding for our programs to save the rainforests or halt market-driven deforestation. To this end, we run initiatives to increase our programs' visibility, profile, and relevance, both in Norway and at key international events, and we manage relations with donors. To support our important work and to provide valuable insights into working with a dynamic NGO, we are excited to offer an internship opportunity for motivated individuals eager to make a difference.
About the Internship
As an intern with the External Relations department, you will have the chance to contribute to impactful projects while gaining firsthand experience in one of Norway's leading environmental organizations.
Key tasks include
Institutional donor mapping
- Mapping of the most relevant 10-20 philanthropic foundations in Norway/Nordics whose strategy/priorities align with RFN work and relevant calls for proposals. Gather intelligence for top priority foundations – building on a library of existing donor profiles.
CRM and PlanDisc projects
- Help update and capture key institutional/corporate donors' interactions, dialogues, and key information to revamp CRM for External Relations/Advocacy.
- Support efforts to integrate/mainstream PlanDisc within External Relations' planning routines.
Donor Relations: rollout of a petition
- Support servicing/response to requests from small- to medium-sized corporate partners and outreach towards a pre-defined list of corporations.
- Support internal/external coordination with suppliers, across teams, and planned activities for the launch of a petition (in August) calling for the general public and responsible companies to demand a stop to deforestation.
International events; donor communications
- Support the organization of events profiling key RFN programs in the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the London and New York Climate Action Weeks.
- Support donor communications needs (e.g. gathering material for international newsletters or impact stories about RFN's added value for indigenous peoples and local community partners in rainforest countries).
Please note: Additional support may be agreed upon if needed, as long as the intern has sufficient time and capacity.
